Malware is pretty freakin' common. Seriously. And it pisses me off so much ... Same for adware. LOL
What CAE said might be true. Also, sysinternals.com has some software that would let you check in deeper to what your computer is actually doing, but this is only good when you know what you're doing and are willing to do it by hand. You could seriously mess up some things with this.
