US coins are easy to distinguish, based on size and edges. Dollar bills, though, are pretty much identical to the touch. Some of the newer ones are noticeable, and those are usually $20, but as I've heard, most of the newer bills of other values have all been sent to other countries, so that probably wouldn't help at all.
If one got all their money in coins, that would work. There are $1 coins, even though $1 bills are still more common. But carrying around $200 worth of coins would usually be impractical.
I've heard about $5 coins, but they're mostly for collectors and I've never actually encountered one.
