I do agree that a jungle simulation game in the style of Perilous Hearts would be incredibly cool. It's not realistic at present, but who knows what may happen in future.
I think I may take a stab at the tower defence concept. I am not sure if I can make it multiplayer though, as that brings with it a great deal of additional complexity and potential for hard to track bugs relating to synchronization and the like. For now I want to keep things fairly simple due to time constraints, so I am leaning towards something offline but with a reasonable AI - at least to start with.
I have a few ideas for themes, but I haven't made a final decision yet.
