Re: Restricted/new users: introduce yourself!
Hello. I have been visiting AudioGames.net for years, but haven't decided to register for the forums until now. My name is Jesse aka BGFH, and I have been running the IllegallySighted YouTube channel since 2012. I've been a gamer since the early days of the Atari 2600 and Apple II days, but got really hooked when the NES came out. I've also been playing audio games for many years.
On the IllegalySighted YouTube channel, I cover a wide variety of topics like mainstream games, audio games, screen reader accessible games, hardware reviews, assistive technology, and virtual reality. Everything is divided into playlists, so it's easy to find what you're looking for if you're new to the channel.
More importantly, over the past few years especially, I have really started doing more to advocate for technology and game accessibility. I have worked with game and app developers to advocate and test for accessibility. As virtual reality, VR, is still quite new, I am also trying to advocate for implementing accessibility into VR's core standards as they are being developed. I spoke on VR accessibility at #ID24 2017, and am trying to reach out to Oculus, Valve, and other VR developers. I'll also be presenting as part of a panel in a couple of weeks at this year's GAConf in San Francisco.
I won't spam or promote my work throughout the forums, but feel it's appropriate to give a couple of links in this intro post.
