But there again, is that really the one true path to happiness, so to speak? I think not. A person who is newly blind, or losing their vision, is in an extremely vulnerable position, just as, let's say, a homeless alcoholic who has hit rock bottom who happens to stumble into a church one day and hears a sermon that really resonates with him is in a vulnerable position. yes, if that man cleans up his act, and if the blind person has a better quality of life as a result of going to that training center, that can be counted as a victory. But dogmatism has its dark side, and the NFB engages in it just as much as any backwoods preacher. I don't think it's OK to train people to believe that there is only one path to walk if you want to be remembered as a good person.
