Re: How Often are you Grabbed in Public
Once my english teacher walked me outside of the my library. She put her hands on my shoulders to guide. I asked why she and a lot of others do that. She said it is how sighted people guide each other. So here's my guess. A lot of sighted people aren't bothered by it, probably because they are not used to being grabbed. So it has become more of an acceptable thing rather than an invasion of space. In other words, socially acceptable, because they aren't constantly being grabbed or asked if they need help.
But since we are, we see it as invading personal space, which it most definitely is. For us, it is not socially acceptable. We could either call it socially acceptable and see what impact that has, or we can continue to call it invasion of personal space, which again is definitely true, and what I will personally do.
