Re: quests in audio games

One thing I did in EC was, upon realizing that a shovel can be used for digging instead of just whacking things, to make digging in certain places reveal things. One or two of these are kinda weird (what does the 4-1 quest have to do with digging in the sand?), but yeah. There's one that makes perfect sense if you find the items involved, but realizing how and where to search for them is the secret (hint: digging is not the only way to search under things).
There are others that would be pretty conspicuous if you knew what you were looking for, but would otherwise just look like regular items. Even then, it's not necessarily obvious what you should do with the thing in question, and you'd need to check out the area for ideas.
Then there's the one you might not notice if you aren't paying attention, and it can quickly stop being available if you wait too long. Come to think of it, that one could use a little more to let you know you're on the right track. Hmm.
