Hmmmm. I haven't set up an account on there yet. So, this may not be valid, but why not have the systems in question take some kind of ammo thing. Most if not all weapons we have now days require some kind of power sorce of some kind or ammo. Maybe it where if you have your defence system charge, they will defend. Of cource, the discharge rate should be predictable. After all, this should be based around strategy right? Maybe you should have to go get fuel for your systems at times? Maybe have the defence slowly degrade over time? Maybe make it so that you have to put troops on the ground to even have a chance to get pass the systems in question? Of cource maybe make it so that different systems have different strengths. For example, shields may be good against lasers, where as armor is good aginst torps. You could make it so that you have to choose your on balense of defence based on what you think will come against you. I'm guess I'm thinking about swamp here. LOL .
