Talking about being or controlling animals brings me back to an idea based on a mainstream title in a survey topic.
EVO Search for Eden is a SNES title where on each stage you start out small/basic and go evolving using points to access the characteristics you want. The mammal stage was the most interesting and diverse but all were enjoyable.
This concept was fun and always wanted to play something like the sort again.
