@Jayde, I'm afraid I disagree with you on token representation being a good thing, or on this current rather radical hatred of the so called privileged straight white male majority as a good thing either, as I said, see the above link to the article I wrote.
Myself, I'd rather see people write complex characters with real experiences, rather than badly written characters with fake ones, irrespective of minority or whatever, and I'm not going to give a representation a pass if the over all characterisation is bad just because the author happens to tick a particular set of minority boxes.
I do agree that there are those out there who have a downer on a gay person sleeping around whereas they wouldn't with a straight person, however this doesn't necessarily mean shallow trite representations of gay people are any the better, indeed for me at least, I'm more likely to sit up and take notice of someone's experiences if those experiences are better written as part of a complex character, rather than if I'm simply being given a shallow succeedinator "hurray for minority" type of affair.
