Thanks for your detailed post! Out of interest, what voice do you use? Is it available through Sapi, or only through your screen reader? One situation where I can definitely see screen reader output being useful for many people, as I mentioned in another post, is when the screen reader has access to voices that the game does not.

This is actually very close to my own personal preferences as a gamer, rather than as a developer. When dealing with walls of text the screen reader is infinitely preferable, while for short pieces of text I tend to prefer Sapi for its responsiveness, especially with the silence trimming workaround I described earlier. Nothing beats prerecorded speech when it comes to character acting and atmosphere, but sometimes the game content is of such a dynamic nature that prerecording everything is far from practical.
