Wanderer, unfortunately, tracking the highlighted item is one of Speakups problems. In a program like Lynx the best way to resolve that problem is to configure Lynx to number the links on a web page. That way instead of arrowing to the link you want you can just type in the number of the link such as 23 and press enter to activate it. Other than that you have to sort of get use to Speakup's habit of speaking the item before or after the one you want in a menu or list which is frustrating as heck.
