Re: I have worked at home and here is what i learned. What about you?

I don't mean to lower anyone's hopes when I say this, but I don't believe there are many IT positions, especially entry level or junior positions which are remote. I may be completely wrong on this. If I am, I would be happy to learn where I can find them as well. COMPTIA A+ is good for desktop and help desk support positions I believe. So, there may be virtual phone support positions. Of course, it's trial and error when it comes to accessibility of the software. I believe there are remote Linux admin positions out there. Therefore if you can manage to get a Linux certification, one might have a better chance of qualifying for such a job. Of course, do look around on websites like Indeed and even LinkedIn to confirm or learn of any remote IT positions and their associated qualifications. That's always been my strategy for software engineering positions when I was applying. As for Accessibility testing and specialist roles, I know there is https://www.paciellogroup.com/category/careers/. They occasionally have remote Accessibility Engineer positions, which is a fancy way of saying accessibility specialist. You might have to be well-versed in WCAG, VPAT, and all that legal stuff, but that's one example I can provide. Also, Deque Systems has a career page which, from time to time, has listings for Accessibility Testers and Software Engineers as Remote positions. Again, there are a few other websites and positions on job board websites I've come across that have open positions for remote Accessibility specialists. As a fair warning, although these are accessibility positions, they still have a somewhat flexible requirement for those who have degrees in Computer Science or related technology fields. Not all of them do. And it never hurts to apply. That goes for anyone in general. If you think you're even closely qualified, I always recommend people apply for a job position. Oh, and Pearson, the company I used to work with, is probably also looking for remote Accessibility QA candidates. Also, just throwing it out there, if you live in Austin Texas in the US, I might have a job position. It's not remote, but it's a good position if you want to get your foot in the door for accessibility. Good luck to you all who are in a job search.
