Re: garageband for windows?
I could never really make ends meet with GArageband's ui, its minimal plugin control accessibility, and practically everything else. I was never all that blown away by GArageband's built-in instruments. They're all fastfood stuff. Reaper, plus Native Instruments Komplete keyboard, xpand2 or Korg Tritan colection, Sonivox Film Score Companion, and an Eastwest Composer Cloud subscription, an Asio driver, and a few good reverbs, compressors and EQ's/exciters from Waves and you've got a pretty good setup that can outdo Garageband. You are going to want a core i7 or greater plus you absolutely do not want to be dealing with this if you have 8gb of ram or below.
