@NevEd yes, and absolutely to both questions in 8. the syncing clients you take for granted now weren't around back then, and the mainstream consumer only had access to dialup back in the late 90's and early 2k's. Transfering a 3 minute audio file through email was so slow you could walk away from your PC and make yourself a cup of coffee and not miss a thing. Im was absolutely fun, and chatrooms were pretty cool. Most everyone wanted to know your ASL (Age, sex and location,) to see if they had at least one of those three things in common with you before more personal engagements were made. Nowadays you can get all of that information before you even begin to talk to a person provided they're not hiding it on purpose.
