Re: just got a Iphone6 plus, cases and questions

Hi Grryf nice you could drop in again.

the forum auto login hasn't had any problems I've noticed, I wonder if it's something up with the cookie storage at your end.

Either way, interesting topic sinse I currently have an Iphone 5 but haven't decided as yet whether it's time to buy a new phone or not, ie, whether the price of the Iphone 6 would warrent the differences it has from the 5, sinse my iphone 5 is still working fine after over two years.

One reason it's actually still in full working order is the surviver case I have. This is a case it's physically slotted into and impossible to remove. It does bulk the phone a bit, but not so much that it is harder to hold, actually the extra witdth is great for a secure grip playing games like audio defense, and also sinse the case has a couple of side peaces and a middle section it's helpful for finding the middle of the screen too. The case is made of a hard phone rubberized material, but a very strong one that is completely shock absorbant, and as Denb said, has a couple of centimeters overlap on the screen and back so that if the phone falls on the floor it won't be damaged, likewise it has a screen protector and a small membrane over the home button.

What I really like about the surviver is the way the phone is entirely protected, apparentlyit was tested by dropping an Iphone out of a plane, and it was still fine afterwards. I haven't gone to that extreme but it does mean if my phone falls off my desk or out of my hand onto the floor (as it has a couple of times), I do not worry about it, indeed a protective case was the very first thing I bought literally the day after I got my phone.

If I did! get an Iphone 6 plus, it'd be a surviver I'd look for as a case.

As to the Iphone 6 plus itself, I'd be interested as I said to know what stuff it does that an Iphone 5 doesn't. I'm not all that bothered about media playback sinse I've decided to stop all this Itunes annoyence and just by a Victor stream instead (which I'm very happy with), though the speaker would have it's uses, but I'd be interested to know about hardware changes like touch authentication. I know for a start it has an improved voice which is a good thing, and personally I see the larger screen as a distinct access advantage for vo sinse the smaller the screen, the more cramped together icons and buttons are and the more delicate your finger movements need to be. This was why i initially bought the Iphone 5 as opposed to the 4S (that and Siri).

The extra size doesn't bother me at all, neither does pocket storage sinse hay, I already carry around a shoulder bag with various useful items from my micro umbrella to Reever's dog biscuits and my pitch pipe, not to mention my victor Stream and earbuds.

I also wonder if it has any extra capacities in hardware that might be requi red for games or other aps too? and how about Siri improvements? I do remember reading something about that with the Ios 8 upgrade, but sinse I haven't upgraded yet sinse I was waiting for all the bugs to be worked out of Ios 8 first (I did the same with 7), that would make a difference.

Actually while we're now on 8.1.2, I probably could now upgrade the operating system without losing out.
