Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions
Some information on mods too. You can mod the game by directly editing the files, but that will cause issues with updates and upgrades. So instead, mods go in a mod folder. Any script or data file that's in a mod folder will override the standard file. But you don't need to copy the entire file, you can, if you like, only change one thing and have that in the file on its own. Its counterpart will be overridden.
For example, the standard game has dozens of enemies. You want to change only the wolf. All you need is the data relevant to the wolf in the mod file. The standard wolf will then be overridden and everything else will stay the same.
If you want to add a new wolf, maybe something more sinister, you just make a unique entry. That will then be added to the game's monster roster on start up.
In this way it's possible to have more than one mod affecting the game. Conflicts can only happen if one mod changes the same thing that another mod al so changes. In that instance, you'll have to decide which to keep.
Installing a mod will be as simple as putting the file in the mods folder. It should be easy to share mods.
