Their argument is that they are not a taxi service, but a networking service.
Their innovation is that, instead of having dedicated taxi drivers, they basically let any random person with a car sign up to be a driver, and if someone needs a ride, their software will connect that person to the nearest available driver, plus or minus some other conditions.
This is how they keep the cost so low, but also why there is no oversight and drivers can get away with discrimination.
If Twitter is to be believed, instead of trying to correct the problem, they're claiming to be a tech company and that the ADA doesn't apply to them.
But Twitter seems to be good at making the most contravertial parts of any issue loudest, so I dunno.
