It is an interesting idea, and a familiar one. I've heard of other products with a switching PS that contaminate the sound quality of other gear -- either placed nearby, and/or plugged into the same power strip.
One thing I notice, however, is if I listen with headphones to the SB3 on the standard switching PS, and then with the linear PS, the difference is still very noticable, possibly even more so.
