Reading 4 files totaling 4.94GB on the server and saving them locally took 3 mins 26 seconds. Which I make 187 mbit/sec. Clearly gigabit networking helps here. Copying the same files back to the server took 9 mins 2 seconds or 75 Mbit/sec (my server is 98% full until another disk arrives, this may have affected the speed).
