First, I am not using any type of signal processing with the Yamaha - tone controls neutral and effects off. Secondly, my point is that the best sound comes only when I use the optical out from the SB2 and the only way I can do this is through the Yamaha. If I run RCA out, it doesn't matter whether I run it through the Yamaha or run it direct to the NAD amp, I still lose some of the bass. What's so special about the digital optical out?
