Adding resistance (or impedance) between the psu and the load (ie squeezebox) is bad because it means the the voltage seen by the load will vary with the current it draws creating voltage noise. (As the current draw changes, so will the voltage drop across any impedance between psu and load)
If the psu was directly powering some audio circuitry, one would typically try to eliminate as much impedance as possible.
