And how many bands would this parametric EQ (presumably we are talking
about digital EQ here) have?

RC isn't just about trying to manipulate frequency response (although
admittedly that is a large part of it).

IMHO if you want to go down the room eq route you'd need a combination
of parametric (to fix resonances/suckouts) and shelving (to shape the
balance to taste)...
