Thanks, for the responses. You pretty much confirmed what I had been thinking. So far, I'm quite happy with the H2. The (membrane) buttons are a little chintzy, so I hope they hold up. For voice (podcast) recording, I couldn't imagine needing any better. I recorded some thunder the other night, and my girlfriend in the other room was rather surprised when I started playing it back (through my SB3, of course). She actually had to ask me whether it was real or my recording. The next two chances I have for real concert recording are The New Pornographers and Of Montreal in November. I think I'll go with 24/48. BTW, I did a short recording today in 24/44.1 (WAV), and converted the WAV->FLAC. I was able to play back both files through the SB3, and I noticed that SlimServer (if it's still called that) lets me know that the WAV is 24-bit. However, the FLAC info doesn't seem to contain this, so I'm wondering whether it is 24-bit or maybe got truncated to 16-bit. Does anyone know of a program provides this info? I tried Winamp as well (doesn't do it).
