Well, there is some pretty serious hardware being used in conjunction
with a Squeezebox, systems costing many thousands or even tens of
thousands of dollars. I suggest you take another look at the "A photo
of your Squeezebox setup" thread again:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19817

More than a couple of people have claimed the Squeezebox feeding such
and such DAC outperformed their megabuck transports (I personally find
the Squeezebox does not sound as good as my transport).

I have no idea how much difference a linear PSU can make though I may
try one in the near future to see what all the fuss is about. If it
improves the sound of someones system more than spending the same cash
upgrading source/transport or buying new cables isn't it worth it?
What else can one do for $259 to improve on the Squeezebox or their
system (assuming there are no glaring weaknesses)? Buy another
transport? Like what? Not much.

$259 doesn't seem out of line to me when you consider the money people
spend on cables, cones, platforms and other tweaks let alone the
equipment.
