Oh, with great pleasure.

I'm not going for second to pretend that I know how esoteric and
expensive analog equipment out there sounds, but from the prospective
of somebody who, 30 years ago, had access to average gramophone and
reasonably well preserved records, I can attest that there's no way one
can compare the experiences of listening to the classical music.

I mean, c'm on, be realistic. Half of classical stuff out there (intro
to Mozart's requiem, for example) has such dynamic range that the
record on the average equipment simply can't bring it up. One
constantly needs to ride the volume button, bring it high for silent
parts and then try to distinguish between music and cracks, pops and
shhhhhs, then make sure to turn it back down before speakers clip in
FFF part. Alternatively, music sounds like it suddently starts and
stops off and on, where ppp parts are simply missing.

Strictly, from the prospective of being able to properly hear most of
the live recording of the classical performances, I'll take $50 DVD
player over most of the turntables I heard. CD does it for me.

And, while I'm runnning to grab my flamesuit, yes, I'm avare that $50
CD player has defficiences, mostly in dynamic response; in my
experience, the differences among various concert halls and among
various conductors and their renderings of certain pieces are way more
significant than that.

Running for cover,

K

The sound stage will open up, bass will tighten and the imaging will
improve. DVD performance will also increase substantially.
