Hi Duke, in your quest for a "warmer" external DAC try to find a used Electrocompaniet ECD-1. I found one for $1100 on Audiogon and use it with my Squeezebox and previously owned Olive music server. I like it better than the Benchmark DAC I also have for its (to me) more lush, warmer sound with digital music files.
