OK, so an update for the previous post. On a hunch I did a test with the exact same settings for both recordings (same audio, same player, same fw, same everything). The result I got was almost identical to the sc7.3.3 vs sc7.4 test I just posted (85dB down, high freq musical content present) so I'm going to say that's just the limits of the measurement system. Thus, 7.3.3 and 7.4 produce identical audio in my setup.
