Many engineers I know have a "My sh*t doesn't stink, I can figure anything out" attitude. I'm not sure where this comes from, or why it's so prevalent. Some of the predicaments and screw-ups I've seen engineers self-inflict are REALLY funny, and some actually quite sad.
