Quite a few people (myself included) would disagree on this point. To
my ears, genuine balanced operation delivers a more solid, organic
sound. Instrumental timbres seem better defined. It's just a guess, but
I think it might be to do with a lower noise floor and/or the separation
of the ground from the signal.
