I'm not using a Transporter, just an SB3 - but I am very happy with my
rig. Bel Canto S300 power amp (which has balanced and XLR inputs) into
B&W 703's. I, like you, just wanted a very minimal set up for stereo
audio listening. With no pre-amp you need to be a little careful that
your source doesn't overload the power amp. Luckily, the transporter has
internal jumpers that you can use to attenuate the signal.

The wiki has a really helpful post to guide you through building a
system with just a power amp and speakers
