Actually, the speakers is the best part of my system...! They are made by a company called QRS in my home town, homepage: http://qrs-speaker.se/index.php?menuid=003. Mine are called Callisto and seems to be out of production now but when I bought them we compared them to some other speakers (of course), among them an American one quite famous at the time (lost the name though, sorry) that then had a price of around $3500 here in Sweden. My speakers sounded as good and was only half the money. My amp is a Harman Kardon HK670, the budget catch of the year when I bought it... I am for the moment quite happy with it but if I would replace anything this would be it.
Sometimes starting to talk about something can be dangerous... There is a HiFi dealer very close to where I work; I visited them on my lunch break the other day and talked to them regarding a DAC. They recommended and let me test a Cambridge DacMagic at home over night... You can all see where this is going, right...? The DAC lifted the performance of my SB to a new level. The sound is more open and "precise"; I have never had a bass and midrange like this, not even with my CD player! The treble can be a bit "sharp" on some pop/rock recording that are recorded that way but on a properly made recording it is just great. The soundstage is wider and deeper... So the DAC...stays...! Now my SB system outperforms CD so the next step is to connect my CD player to the DAC. All is well... Does anyone know if the SB Classic inverts phase over the digital out? /Per -- peber ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peber's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31446 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65771 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
