Overall I would agree with your analysis about the balanced leads. In my case, the Krell processor is at the heart of a 5.1 home cinema system and with the best will in the world it is virtually impossible to keep the audio leads entirely away from HDMI, component, ethernet, USB, aerial leads, mains cables and who knows what else. So I guess it was a case of belt and braces (suspenders for those of you over the pond).
