The energizer/amplifier that comes with the Stax package is all you need, apart from some rca cables to connect them to the touch. The 4040's are superb headphones, I used to have them until I bought the 4070's and 007's.... not long ago Stax launched a limited edition series, try looking for those, you might still find them...
