Loved your whole post... I certainly have found 16/44 to be good enough
for many recordings, and wish that every CD was up there with the best
sounding ones.

Perhaps going up to 24/96 reduces the skill/competence required for
production of a decent end product, or perhaps would just fill my hard
drive at 3 times the rate!
