I haven't tried to be scientific about it, but my 24-bit rips do seem to sound notably better than 16-bit. I'm using Audacity for recording, so maybe it's an issue with the way it does the conversion. I've beein doing rips at 24/96 lately. Disk space is cheap, and I don't do that many rips that space is yet an issue.
