I understand that early solid state amps which operated in class b had low distortion when measured at full pelt but sounded shit when played at normal levels. However this would have been revealed by the right measurement ( distortion at 1 watt output).
I understand that it is said that amps using lots of negative feedback measure well but sound shit but I don't know whether this is true. I Think one should take with a pinvh of salt the widespread audiophile idea that the qualities of good components can't be measured. The counter argument can be put by reference to Daniel Weiss who claims to design his dacs by measurements only. Now I know some people don't love his stuff, but I've never seen it seriously suggested that they sound shit. -- adamdea ------------------------------------------------------------------------ adamdea's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37603 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93320 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
