My personal plan, going forward, is most likely to use iPeng's playback abilities. Buy an older iPod touch with a dead battery and just leave that sucker hooked up to either a dock or connected via other adapters. Main downside is the lack of IR interface and a display viewable from a distance, but the compromises aren't so terrible.
