For audiophiles there is a third choice for the source of the
differences heard, namely is the equipment more expensive and if so then
you have your answer since more expensive always sounds better. At least
this is true in the audiophile press because that's what the advertisers
and the editors demand.

There are other factors which may also be taken into account such as
aircraft grade aluminum front panels (which always sound better) and
weight of equipment (heavier always sounds better) to name but a few
very important ones.
