Great comments one and all. I too must confess to having been on "the
other side" for a while along due to my engineering background I was
never in danger going totally off the deep end. I always tried to keep
all the components in my audio system at about the same level, in other
words with $3,500 Vandersteen speakers there is no reason to have a
$15,000 SACD player nor a $20,000 turntable. And that is also one of the
reasons I jumped off the upgrade treadmill - everything I now own is
within the same "class" and upgrading any one piece to a "higher" class
would mean upgrading almost everything to that same higher class. So no
$5,000 DAC for me since my trusty $2,000 Transporter is in the exact
same class as the rest of my system.
