Again, I have experienced this not being the case with 2 channel. My own system images fairly well, not the best I've heard but okay - and I have four seats across, there is a middle-left and middle-right but no centre seat. One of the characteristics of good imaging is the ability to maintain it off centre. However, in any system/room a short period is usually required for the sound stage to form optimally. Probably to do with the brain adjusting.
