Our senior managers are very active in keeping on top of outstanding audit
issues (tone from the top). We utilize a lotus notes based system, in which
after issuance of the Audit Report the audit findings,management action
plan, and management action plan date are entered.  On a monthly basis all
audit owners (including the responsible Senior Manager) are automatically
sent a reminder to update the status of the audit.  In addition, the
responsible Audit Manager is held accountable (in performance reviews &
monthly update meetings) to ensure the audit issues are kept updated and
completed on schedule ( or the due date extended due to business reasons -
project delays, funding, etc.)

My audit committee has asked that I propose methods to incent management to
complete audit findings in a timely fashon. The audit committee suggested
linking completion of audit findings to performance reviews.

Currently, managers are required to set a target completion date on all
audit findings. These dates and subsequent changes are reported to the
audit
committee.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
