How good is your follow-up process?  At our Company we require a quarterly
response for all open findings.  Each responsible respondent is required to
submit a quarterly response on the status of all open findings to the
internal audit department.  This is accomplished using a very simplified
excel spreadsheet.  Once the response deadline passes then responses
including non-responses are compiled and forwarded to CEO, COO and CFO with
a copy to any EVP's who have individuals in their division that have not
responded. This generally gets the ball rolling as the EVPs hate to be
called on the carpet for a non-response.  Since implementing this process
my response rate has improved dramatically and generally is 90 to 100% with
a 79% completion rate.  Not sure how this completion rate compare with

My audit committee has asked that I propose methods to incent management to
complete audit findings in a timely fashon. The audit committee suggested
linking completion of audit findings to performance reviews.

Currently, managers are required to set a target completion date on all
audit findings. These dates and subsequent changes are reported to the
audit
committee.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
