As a matter of fact, while I prefer Paru's simplicity (and extensively rely on its support for ad-hoc git repos as package repositories), Yay's new Lua scripting API in v13 is very powerful and can be leveraged to implement some degree of automated screening, as some of its examples highlight (warning when maintainers change, excluding packages changed too recently for the "many eyes" strategy to have done its magic, ...). Perhaps Paru will gain a similar feature in the future (and preferably in a more ALPM-idiomatic way than yay's completely custom Lua thingy), but for now yay has the edge there.
