Precisely!

That is the point I was trying to make in recounting GFA's earlier adventures in this promotional area.  Very few of us who are already captivated by gliding are in a position to adequately analyse and determine what aspects of our sport need to be presented to potential "customers" to get them to drive to the field and try it for themselves.

This is not about technical production or quality material.   It is about knowing what will grab the attention of our potential market and motivate them to take the first step.   We will probably only have a few minutes of their attention span, so it has to send the right message - and quickly.    That probably won't include anything about aerobatics, wave flying, or competition finishes.   Indeed, what it will contain will probably not appeal at all to those of us already in the sport.   But that is not what we are about in this exercise.

By all means gather material that interests and excites the already converted for those winter evenings around the bar.   But please keep in mind that as a promotional venture, it will probably miss the mark entirely.

This is a good discussion.  I hope people who are working in the promotional area at all levels of the sport are taking notes.
