Well, here's some timely news.

About 11 weeks ago, this happened:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/09/17/2035746.htm
In response to Telstra's plan to close CDMA services by January,
Attorney General Philip Ruddock ordered that Telstra "... keep the
CDMA network open until its Next G network provides equivalent or
better coverage."

Almost simultaneously, the ACCC took Telstra to Federal Court for
misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to its claims that
its NextG mobile network "covers the entire country."

Today the Federal Court ruled, finding that "misled customers about
the coverage of its Next G mobile network," and that, "Telstra had
incorrectly claimed Next G customers would get the same or even
better coverage as they did on the CDMA network."

The ACCC says it will now seek orders requiring Telstra to publish
new advertisements, and I can't wait to see what they say. I propose,
"Telstra NextG: Meet the new boss, worse than the old boss." :-)
