Strike Force Ayles busts a criminal network, with 30k hours of voice
recording & 100k hours of cctv.

1 - Full credit to the police for doing a difficult job.
2 - Conspicuous in its absence is any mention of IT/social media
surveillance.
3 - This basically makes the passage of the Assistance and Access bill a
done deal.
4 - I'm not saying the police chose this moment to pull the pin on the
operation to secure passage of the bill. (I'm not saying I'm not).
5 - Which is regrettable, as the bill's not fit to pass as is, and the rush
to ease the passage of the bill is going to make for bad law, and unhappy
outcomes, both for law enforcement and service providers.

Kind regards

Paul Wilkins
