You have a network in one city/town... TPG have a network in every town, city,
state and almost house you can imagine in Australia.

I’m not saying this is an excuse, but seriously, please don’t compare yourself
to them, they have thousands of ‘issues’ to deal with and need to prioritise
them based on the severity.

Low hanging HFC is not dangerous if it’s not over a road or anything. I would
like to see a photo, as a low HFC on a side walk is very normal and classified
low risk, there are far greater risks out there such as sunken pits, live POTS
poles, smashed POI’s and so many other things that Telcos have to deal with.

It’s great you take care for your network in your region, but that’s a handful
of devices.
TPG / iiNET and many others have thousands and thousands of end points, and
getting to those immediately is not possible.

There is a reson these are called ‘residential services’ with a ‘residential
SLA’ because Telcos know and realise that things like a broken HFC cable can
and will happen, but the time to repair could be hours, days, months.

As consumers, we need to have backup plans if the internet is that important.

As businesses, we need to have redundant connections if we want to stay in
business.

I am appalled that a company couldn’t care about accidental damage to their
network. iiNET has really let get of their standards and ethics since TPG
brought them out, then again anyone that knows what iinet was before compared
to now will know what I mean – but that’s not the sort of discussion that we
should be having on this list.

I run a marrid of wireless gear P2P all over Ballarat, if any of my equipment
was damaged or posing a risk to the public or their health I have a duty of
care nt only under my licence conditions not to mention ethics to remedy the
situation.

It took me over half a day to finally get through to someone to warn them that
the hazard, only after I posted here did anyone take me seriously. I am very
disappointed that L1 staff at iinet business and resi dint know how to handle
this issue.

Thanks everyone who assisted in this situation.
