Hi, Jean, Michele, all,
A few technical notes, interpolated below.

I have changed the old blue of the headings to the new blue, even though
it seems a bit gaudy to me... but the only other choice is black, which
seems a bit stark. Thoughts?
I found the blue a bit too light and it does not match the blue used
in the OOoAuthors logo or the hyperlink blue.
Hmmm... I used a colour picker to match the colour, or so I thought.
The RGB specs for the color are on the main website, under something
related to branding and/or logo usage (marketing).
I am OK with it, but I
think we should change at least align the hyperlink colour to match
the heading colour.
I think it would be too pale in that font size. Although the default
hyperlink blue doesn't match the heading blue, it is easy to see and
prints well in black and white. Personally I would prefer black and
underlined in the text though not underlined in the TOC (the two can be
styled differently).
I have also simplified the table style to a more modern look, one which
is also easier to maintain, and made some other minor tweaks.
I agree that it is easier to maintain, but I think that for
readability purposes we should keep the banded rows.
Banded rows? You mean the alternating white and gray backgrounds? They
are a major time-consuming nuisance to maintain when rows are added to
or removed from a table. With the horizontal lines I've added between
the rows, the colour differentiation of the rows themselves should not
be needed. (The horiz. lines may not be immediately obvious unless you
turn off table boundaries.)
It should be easy enough for me to write a macro to fix the banding
(just go through the table a row at a time, removing any existing
banding, and adding what should be there), although Andrew could
doubtless do it faster (yes, that's a hint :-) ), since I know nothing
about tables. We could store the macro in the template. I'm in love with
the obvious name for it ("Bandit"). More seriously, I find the banding
pretty, professional, and easy to read. If we can fix the
maintainability, would you reconsider? --/tj/
Other comments:
- the OOoTableText (Caption) and OOoTableText(CaptionNumber) should be
a bit smaller (10.4 instead of the current 11)
I had missed changing that. Thanks for noticing.
- OOoHeader and OOoFooter font size should be aligned with the body text size.
Oops, another one I missed. Again, thanks for noticing.
- we should add a note discouraging the use of OOoHeading4
I thought there was one, but perhaps it needs to be more obvious.
- I do not like the heading numbering but some people seem to like it.
Maybe we should have a voting :-)
Heading number is not appropriate for a user guide for a general
audience (despite what some of the people on the LibO list think, it is
NOT "more professional"). Such numbering is fine in reference manuals
and manuals aimed at a more technical audience. I can find research
references to back up my claim, but I have better things to do with my
time than waste it looking up stuff like that.
- In the cross referencing section we can now refer to the numbered
items using cross referencing.
Thanks, I forgot to update the template text.
- The title page looks a bit dull without any graphics.
Agreed, but it's a low-priority item at this time IMO. I'm not a fan of
eye-candy, but if you or someone wants to suggest something, please do.
Just please make it something that prints well in black and white.
- we may need to add a bit more information in the Character styles
section on how to deal with dialog names, tabs(pages) names. If I
remember correctly the agreement is to use OOoEmphasis the first time
the dialog or tab is introduced, and use OOoDefault afterwards.
Yes, thanks for the reminder. I really wasn't looking at the info in
this pass through the template, though I probably should have been.
- OOoContents3 should have a bit of above paragraph space (3pt?). That
will make the ToC look a bit less cramped.
I thought it was spaced out much too much before, but we could add a wee
bit of space back in.
- Also on the ToC (again I am not a fan, but it is common practice)
OOoContents1 could be made bold.
No problem. And thanks for the comments; they always make me think.
