Unfortunately, I don't have the money. If I did, I would (but then I'd
be a PHB, and I wouldn't be here in the first place).

Yeah. It would be great if one company (or group of companies, perhaps
via OSDL or something) could fund this kind of position for the
benefit of the community. The community deserves a free service.
In any case, I was thinking that perhaps you could make use of the
spam filter scripts that Matti has set up on vger? They seem to do a
reasonable job. I'd even volunteer to cook up a set of scripts, or do
the work of setting it up on linux.kernel.org, if that's what it
takes. I'm just tired of all the fucking spam.
